Susanna Bott was my mother. But long before that, from an early age, she was a painter. Raised and educated in London, before moving to France in the mid 60’s, she never gave up this passion which evolved through the stages of her life. After her passing in 2018, the experience of loss and mourning gave birth to the desire to connect with her in a new way: the astonishing body of work she left behind became a unique source of inspiration. In creating mineral compositions based on the shapes and colours found in the oil paintings she made in the 70’s, a natural connection with her took place. There, I found solace and peace, as well as an immense gratitude.
